Altitude Training for Triathlon & IRONMAN

Add simulated altitude to high-volume endurance training without sacrificing the consistency of your swim, bike and run programme.

Choose your altitude system

Sleep Cloud is the simplest overnight option, Training Cloud supports indoor bike and treadmill work, and an Altitude Bedroom System is suited to year-round use.

Plan altitude exposure around swim, bike and run training, with overnight systems that fit into your home routine.

Live high, train low across three disciplines

A home sleep system lets you separate overnight exposure from the location of your swim, bike and run sessions. That is useful when your programme depends on a particular pool, training group or bike route.

IRONMAN-distance preparation

Consider the whole training week before adding exposure. Long rides, bricks, fuelling practice and run durability each place demands on the programme. Do not translate a laboratory change in VO₂ max into promised minutes saved over an IRONMAN.

70.3, Olympic and sprint-distance preparation

Choose exposure timing with the event calendar and your own response in mind. Short-course and long-course athletes have different training demands; one universal block is not appropriate for every race.

Indoor bike and run sessions

Training Cloud accommodates compatible indoor equipment. Plan hypoxic sessions separately from normal indoor training, and check space, clearance and intended occupancy before ordering.

Systems can be considered for individual athletes or shared facilities. talk to Box Altitude with your room dimensions and intended sleeping or training use.

What the evidence can tell you

Structured live-high, train-low studies have reported increases in haemoglobin mass and aerobic performance. These findings apply to the exposure and athletes studied; they do not establish a fixed increase in watts or a race-time saving for every user. Review the a published live-high, train-low study and its protocol when planning your approach.

Frequently asked questions

How much will altitude training improve my performance?

There is no fixed improvement that can be promised. Study outcomes depend on the protocol and participants, and individual responses vary. Assess your own progress with your coach rather than using a promised percentage or race-time saving.

How should I time a block before a race?

Plan the block with your coach around the race, travel, training load and your previous response. There is no universal number of weeks that guarantees a peak on race day.

Can I keep training in my usual environment?

Yes. A home altitude sleep system allows overnight exposure while your daytime sessions remain in your usual training environment.

Is altitude suitable for amateur triathletes?

Suitability depends on your goals, health, training and ability to follow a consistent plan. Professional use does not guarantee the same outcome for an amateur athlete.

Which system should I choose?

Sleep Cloud is designed for overnight exposure, Training Cloud for compatible indoor exercise setups, and an Altitude Bedroom System for a dedicated room. Choose the configuration around your space and intended use.
